You are in the middle of the mobile data boom. Now make it work for you!
In 2007, mobile data sales in the U.S were $23 billion. In 2009, they’re on target to reach $45 billion. Keep in mind that growth has occurred in just two years — and in the midst of a tough economy. Now imagine if we turn up connection speeds to 100Mbps, then 1Gbps. We believe increased speeds will further expand existing markets.
The much-lauded success of the iPhone, with its 1 billion downloaded apps, is just the tip of an immense iceberg. We believe netbooks and new consumer demand for a wireless web will kindle growth in services, technologies and devices for the communications industry.
Keynotes from Motorola CEO Sanjay Jha and also T-Mobile CTO, Cole Brodman

Today Mobile Monday Silicon Valley published a report on the local mobile industry, Investment in the Silicon Valley Mobile Industry 1999 - Present. We found that mobile has become a billion-dollar a year investment sector in Silicon Valley. Check out the report for our findings, like the dramatic increase in mobile acquisitions in 2008 and that 90 mobile companies were funded in the Bay Area alone in 2008. We also found strong growth in mobile companies that sell hardware, ads and platforms, but slower growth than we expected in software development and apps. More fun facts in the report.
We’ll discuss the report at tonight’s MMSV event on Mobile Monetization. Register fast since we only have a few spaces left.

Our event on 8/3 is about monetization for mobile app and web developers. Our panel, including leading ad networks from the east and west, distribution platforms, and publishers, to will discuss how to actually make money in mobile.
This event is possible thanks to generous sponsorship from Quattro Wireless and GetJar. Don’t forget to register to attend!
Developers and mobile web publishers have a confusing set of monetization options in ads, charging for apps, subscription fees, and virtual goods. We’ll clear through the chatter and discuss the facts. How much money can a mobile developer really make off of ads? When should a developer or charge for apps, and when are ads more lucrative? And what is Tapulous doing right?
We’ll also have reps from Mobclix, Smaato, GetJar, Flurry, Quattro, and Medialets at demo tables.
Panel Lineup:
Lars Albright - SVP of Business Development, Quattro Wireless
Patrick Mork - VP Marketing, GetJar
Ali Diab - VP Product, AdMob
