Meetings About Mobility, the first Monday of the Month
1 Jul 2008
We’re back for July!!! Coming fresh off a three day 4th of July weekend everyone should be energetic and revitalized. Here are the essential details for the meeting:
There’s been a lot of talk about analytics for mobile properties, and more numbers are making it out into public forums for wider scrutiny. We’ll hear from a few different folks helping to make that happen: AdMob will give a demo of their new analytics offering, Opera will share some about the motivation and learning that’s come from the State of the Mobile Web Report. We’ll also have a panel discussion moderated by Matt Marshall from VentureBeat. The goal is to try to pull some overall understanding of how the mobile web is progressing, and what a publisher can do to understand their position and role in the market as a whole.
The folks from VentureBeat helped me put together the plan for this month’s meeting and worked out the details for the meeting space. They have a conference of their own coming up at the end of July that looks like it should be fantastic. I already posted to my personal blog about it, but here’s some info about the conference directly from them:
MobileBeat2008 is a conference, July 24, that will explore new opportunities emerging in the mobile industry, presented by VentureBeat. With new entrants such as the 3G iPhone and its slick browser, and Google’s open Android project, together with the emerging openness among the carriers, there’s never been as much opportunity for innovation – and for making money.
Speakers include Rich Miner, of Google’s Android project, to Matt Murphy, of the iFund; also speaking are principals from the newly announced RIM (Blackberry) Fund, Verizon, Nokia, Loopt, AdMob, Accel Partners, Norwest Venture Partners, Redpoint Ventures, and many more. Tickets are limited and going fast, so go to amiando.com/mobilebeat2008 to register or mobilebeat2008.com to learn more.
