Meetings About Mobility, the first Monday of the Month
29 Jan
There’s been a lot going on with browsers on mobile devices: the changes in usage coming about due to the iPhone, new high capability browsers like that demoed last month by Wake3 and the announcement yesterday of Skyfire, and the advancing work on Firefox mobile. The last time we did an overview of browsers was back in March 2006, so it’s definitely time to return to the topic. The meeting is going to be in the Sibley Auditorium at Berkeley. Thanks go to the Digital Media and Entertainment Club (DMEC) at Haas for supporting Mobile Monday. Here are the essential details in standard form:
Bechtel Hall apparently doesn’t map out well for directions, but Evans Hall right next door does (970 Evans Hall, Berkeley, CA 94720). Campus map included below (Thanks Manu!). Hope to see you next week! - Mike

Welcome to 2008! The first Silicon Valley Mobile Monday of the year is going to focus on open source in mobile:
There’s been a lot of overall discussion recently about open source, open standards, and open platforms. I’m a personal believer in openness in general and open source in particular as major forces in the evolution of mobility. We’ll hear from a few folks who have been involved with open source in mobile for a while and get their take on what the role of open source has and will be, and why there’s been such a surge in interest recently.
Hope everyone is having a great start to 2008, see you next week! - Mike
